Carbon County

Carbon County, nestled on the southern end of the Pocono Mountains, offers so many things to do.

Visitors can raft down the Lehigh River, hike in one of the three state parks, or ski at one of the resorts. Head indoors for a show at Penn's Peak, or stroll the streets of Jim Thorpe and check out the interesting shops.

At the end of the day, rest your head in one of the many area hotels or bed and breakfasts.

Jim Thorpe is the county seat.

Other towns include: Beaver Meadows, Lansford, Lehighton, Nesquehoning, Palmerton, Tresckow, Weatherly and Weissport.

Major roadways running in or through Carbon County include Interstates 80 and 476 (Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike); US Route 209; PA Routes 54, 93, 443, 248, 534, 895, 902, 903, and 940.
