Running along Swatara Creek, Swatara State Park offers fishing, boating and hiking. Fans of geology can search for fossils at a site within the park, and hikers can link up with the Appalachian Trail in the southern end of the park.

A majority of Swatara State Park is located in neighboring Lebanon County, while the fossil pit and part of the hiking trail is in Schuylkill County.
