The Joseph Priestley House is named for the man who discovered oxygen in England in 1774. Somewhat unpopular for his liberal ideas, his home was burned and Priestley spent his last ten years in Northumberland. Today, visitors can learn about Priestley's life and legacy, through interpretive exhibits and guided tours of the estate.
